To ensure the required cooling for current 1/5 and 1/6 engines the flywheels have fins on both sides. Therefore the fan housing has large openings on the crankcase side for the required air supply. However, the risk of foreign objects (grass, sand, or even stones!) entering here Is very high! As a result, broken fins on the flywheel occur frequently. This leads to reduced cooling efficiency and - even more critical vibrations from a flywheel which is out of balance due to missing fins. Therefore, this kind of flywheel protection is highly recommended, especially for offroad use. The product video explains the handling in detail! Note:It is essential to thoroughly clean and degrease the crankcase prior to attaching the hook-and-loop tape (OKS2661)!For installation on Chung-Yang and Zenoah engines in FG cars, the crankcase cover must be slightly modified in two places where the engine mount is attached (see Figure 6 and 7). Furthermore the fit of the fabric must be as tight as possible in the region of the layshaft pinion (in front of the differential ring gear!) Now with the "K&N" version the engine mount has been changed to eliminate this discrepancy. However, all aluminum engine mounts available on the market share their dimensions with the previous plastic engine mount. For the installation of a G320 Zenoah in a "K&N" -DBXL two possible combinations exist in order to obtain the correct hole pattern:When using the standard (new) plastic engine mount a shortened clutch housing is required as in a 5ive-TWhen using an aluminum engine mount a stock length clutch housing is requiredSeparately, it is recommended to enlarge the cutout in the body panel in front of the K & N air filter for about 2 - 3 mm to ensure that the panel cannot chafe on the air filter.For all HPI Baja 5 cars the G320RCer clutch housing has to be shortened at the mounting base, for Losi 5ive- T and Desert Buggy XL cars the clutch housings overall length must be shortened to CY size.When installing the air filter you must pay attention to the length of the screws.For use on Losi and HPI we recommend M5x45 screws (like H94763); you can also cut existing screws to length, of course.When ordering with a modified clutch housing we will include these screws!In our shop you can select from Zenoah G320RC engines already modified to fit your HPI or Losi car.The installation of a Zenoah G320RC in a Smartech C5 onroad car is possible without modifications. However, due to the engines performance aluminum engine mounts (set # y0189) are mandatory!The installation of the Zenoah G320RC in other cars (like FG or Smartech buggies / monsters a.s.o.) is not even remotely straightforward, since the layshaft pinion (the small pinion in front of the big differential spur gear) is in the way for the larger Zenoah G320RC crankcase.Compatibility Zenoah / Losi 5ive-T:Please note that for installation in a Losi 5ive the fan cover must be swapped for a Losi or CY cover #5341 in order to fit the chassis" bolt pattern.If you want to install a Zenoah engine into the Losi 5ive, you usually have to use a fan cover from the CY engine.However, there is a workaround to maintain Zenoah fan cover.The adjustment is done via the pinion specific mounting plates for the engine. The change always affects only the rear, outer (carburetor side) plate under the fan cover. This is rotated by 180°; so that the embossed number on this plate faces the exhaust side of the engine!18T pinion: use 20T plate, rotated 180°19T pinion: use 19T plate, rotated 180°20T pinion: use 18T plate, rotated 180°On the plus side you gain the opportunity to easily mount a Zenoah engine keeping the original fan cover. On the other hand there will be the disadvantage of the necessity to combine two different sets of engine mounting plates when installing any pinion other than the stock 19T version. Therefore we do not recommend this workaround for everyday use. Nevertheless it works perfectly should ever the need arise. Attention! New ignition system for RC Car race engines with air baffles, special 62 mm balanced flywheel, modified ignition coil mount and special Löhin tuning ignition (#1361). For Zenoah G230/240/260/270/290/320 und CY / Fuelie / Losi engines.A much smaller and lighter flywheel, in conjunction with the special air baffles, ensures that the engine gets more cooling air then with previously available modified flywheels! The fan from the CIS-ignition with fins on both sides is about 30% lighter (!) than the stock version! Needless to say an engine equipped with such a flywheel revs considerably faster and significantly higher, of course. This in itself is nothing new, because modified flywheels, even though not 30% lighter, are pretty common on modified engines. However, the problem with these modified flywheels is maintaining sufficient cooling for the engine, which is absolutely mandatory for a reliably running engine! The 20% smaller in diameter flywheel is primarily responsible for the very substantial performance increase by the SPEED TEC CRANK ignition . The lower inertia, which is quite crucial for engine performance, allows for an extremely fast and higher revving engine! The air baffles of the CIS-ignition ensure that the path of the cooling air is matched to the reduced diameter of the CIS-fan wheel and the engine gets more cooling! As our product video shows, the stock engine gained near 2,000 rpm through installation of the SPEED TEC CIS-ignition ! But perhaps the optimized torque is even more convincing. This for 30% reduced and 20% more centrally positioned flywheel mass gives your engine a stunning power increase. The Samba 8 titanium gives you a weight saving of 140 grams compared to the steel version. We have tested and optimized the Samba 8 Titan- tuned pipe system for half a year on the engine dyno and an additional three months on various racetracks! The pipe has a new, very strong connection system. This low-maintenance flexible connection between pipe and manifold is secured by four (!) springs, making a failure prone o-ring seal obsolete! Despite of the increased performance fuel consumption remains the same compared to a Samba 7 pipe.
