SPEED TEC racing insulator type C, with carburetor cooling, suitable for nearly all 1/5 & 1/6 cars (for very shallow body shells like Porsche GT or similar please use the 23 mm version # ST1011!) SPEED TEC O direct quote: According to our recent developments to reduce engine temperature, we now introduce our latest creation: the Speed Tec Tuning insulator C. Material and internal structure are identical to the original Speed Tec Tuning insulator 26mm. On the side facing the flywheel it has been extended and is provided with four holes. Air is passed through these holes directly from the fan towards the carburetor, which counteracts running lean at high ambient temperatures and improves performance. The insulator temperature is also lowered by the air passing through.The material components of this high quality engineering plastic, with an extremely high melting point of 280° C, guarantee optimal heat dissipation. Genuine Speed-Tec spare/option part. Due to the air boxes mandatory for racing and the required off-road air filters, a strong and rigid insulator is a must! No more stripped threads, no warpage and the resulting air leaks at the insulator anymore! So many weird running behaviors, for example if the engine is warmed up and a tiny gap occurred at the insulator, are caused by this distortion of a plastic insulator. The increased heat transfer of the aluminum is taken into account by addition of an insulator plate. Therefore the aluminum intake is largely insulated. Due to the face-milled surfaces of the aluminum intake you reach a greater durability of the gaskets.
