Genuine Lightscale spare/option part.The Lightscale STD (Smooth Traction Differential) is a limited slip differential. It uses the known design of ramps for the satellite gear shafts to reduce slippage. The development of the Lightscale STD already began in 2007. In 2008, the first prototypes were ready and tested. In these almost 10 years, we have intensively tested and refined the product to the production stage. In addition to weight optimization and stamina, easy use, simple maintenance and comfortable handling of the car were on the to-do list.We have succeeded in developing a differential which, depending on the setup, achieves a maximum blocking effect, but gives you a car which is very easy to drive. The blocking effect does not kick in as suddenly as you expect from differentials of this kind, but develops pleasantly and controllably. Hence the name "Smooth Traction Differential". The great advantage of the STD is that even under adverse conditions good traction can be achieved. The STD is easy to handle. Due to the design, you cannot assemble it the wrong way.To ensure a long life the ramps are made of hardened steel. Nevertheless, the STDs weight is on par with comparable differentials. With only one set of ramps you can chose from four different blocking modes. The ramps are directional, which means that each of the two V-notch sides has a different blocking effect depending on the mounting direction. This allows for a very simple and fast change of the blocking effect by just turning the differential in the vehicle. Only the spur gear must be bolted to the other side of the STD for a change from ramp 1 to ramp 2 or vice versa. The differential does not need to be opened.The STD fits in all well-known 1: 5 touring cars and Formula 1 cars. The spur gear mount is compatible with all known gears, either standard or fine pitch. Common differential shafts with spline drive fit the STD. FG, H.A.R.M., Lauterbacher and the old RS-5 can be used. Our recommended gear oil is included.Contents:1 set
