The design of the "shut-off" valve is a double chamber system, which closes when disconnecting the coupling. (This design enables easy and safe opening of the quick couplings, even under high pressure. Similarly, just as in low pressure applications.) You feel a snap when connecting the couplings, preventing over-tightening or accidental opening.
