The advantage of a one-way clutch over conventional or limited slip differentials is the combination of maximum propulsion and outstanding agility in the turns. This results in a 4WD vehicle with the quick turning-in of a 2WD while retaining the advantages of 4WD traction when accelerating out of corners.
This applies to offroad and street cars alike.
The inner races in the one-way clutch feature the internal spline drive to accept FG differential shafts. They are made of high strength steel, hardened and ground to very close tolerances. Combined with the large one-way clutches, this guarantees the transfer of the high maximum torque.
Installation is pretty easy; the one-way clutch unit replaces the bevel gears in the diff including the satellite gear shaft and is inserted as a single piece into the differential case. You just have to take care that the side where the writing on the clutch can be seen goes to the left hand side (in the direction of travel).
Fits FG-plastic differential case and HT- or FG-aluminum cases for non-self-locking differential versions.
For vehicles not equipped with in-wheel brakes it should be noted that there will be no more braking action in front from the layshaft brake when running the one-way clutch as a front differential
