They increase the oil volume and the separate vent screw makes filling the shocks easier.According to Horizon Hobby he stock oil in the Super Baja Rey shocks is very close to a 350 viscosity, and we recommend y0038 genuine silicone shock absorber oil for refilling or changing to other viscosities. To ensure seal tightness and consistency you should only use genuine silicone shock absorber oil for refilling as well.Most every rc-car shock absorber uses silicone oil of different viscosities. The smaller the number, the lower the viscosity of the silicone oil and the softer the damping.
