To ensure seal tightness and consistency you should only use genuine silicone shock absorber oil for refilling as well.Most every rc-car shock absorber uses silicone oil of different viscosities. The smaller the number, the lower the viscosity of the silicone oil and the softer the damping. The chassis of the FG Formula 1 Competition is built on a 5mm aluminium chassis and all screws at the bottom of the chassis are countersunk. The front and rear axle carriers as well as the engine unit are connected to each other over the entire length of the chassis, so that almost the rigidity of a monocoque chassis is achieved. The engine is fixed in place using a quick-release fastener, making it possible to change the engine quickly. The rear axle is driven by several smooth-running spur gears and an FG ball drive on the rear axle. The clutch bell is held by a separate flange bearing to reduce the load on the crankshaft. The front and rear axle with versatile adjustment options such as camber, caster, etc. consists of aluminium wishbones at the bottom. Sturdy aluminium rear axle plates reduce wear on the rear axle and provide enormous driving stability. The disk brakes prevent a breaking-out of the rear, have a very sensitive adjustment and are optically very effective. You can run the front disk brake with the gas servo, but make sure the servo has a minimun regulating power of six kilograms. We recommend to steer over two servos if you install front and rear disk brake. We deliver the disk brakes without uprights. This reed valve system converts a normal piston-port engine into a reed valve engine. It offers the advantage of increased intake duration for a better charge for more power. As a positive side effect no fresh gas loss occurs during the downward movement of the piston because the membranes close this path.The reed valve block replaces the usual stock insulator. To use the advantage of the reed system, it is necessary to modify the piston skirt on the intake side. Depending on the engine it is advantageous for best results, to slightly match the cylinders intake port to the Epoxy insulator plate at the bottom of the reed valve system. Both steps are described in the installation instructions for Zenoah and Chung Yang engines. Our thanks for these instructions go to our customer Thomas Hoenicke.Note: For the time being the epoxy insulator plate must be slightly reworked to fit a G320 Zenoah engine. The manual has been written with the conversion of a G320, the affected area for modification is therefore shown.The unit is 24.5 mm high.
