Typ GWK55E the rain tire for the front axle
The most driven Formula 1 tires of the past years were modified for an better tire-to-wheel adhesion. The double tire adhesion on the outside is no longer necessary, only one tire lip has to be glued at this new series. Instead of the optical tire lip a plastic ring has to be glued on. The tires offered as ?glued? are professionally glued from GRP on the wheels and ready to drive. Due to the high torque load on the bonding of tires on largescale cars, checking the bonding from time to time and re-glueing (y0067) if necessary is unavoidable.
Different type of tires:
- Type GWK55A, the high grip front tire for warm ambient temperatures and fine to medium grit tarmac.
- Type GWK55B, the medium grip front tire for medium to low ambient temperatures and coarse grit maybe soiled tarmac.
- Typ GWK55E the rain tire for the front axle.

Usually this means that the car will get really fast times only after a few laps. The driver who uses preheated tires has a considerably advantage. With cold outside temperatures or low grip tracks, like a not so clean parking lot, it often not possible at all to bring the tire temperature up to the required range just by driving. As a result the car will be difficult to control!Measures:maximum outer diameter of 150 mm maximum tire width of 110 mm That includes all standard 1/5th car tires! ( Formular 1 car tires ) Instructions: The tire warmers may be operated only on 12 to 13.8 volts AC or DC. In order to reach optimum operating temperature, a power supply with a 12 - 13.8 volts AC or DC and at least 10 amps output power should be used. The T2m Powerbase y1352 or the LRP 43200 Powersupply Competition power supply is the perfect solution for this application. The operation of the tire warmers directly from a 12 volt car battery (without Powerbase) is also possible, of course. The rubber is based on our sucesessfull 2010/11 pro tyre and uses the same compound. The insert has been modified to fit the new shape of the tire. Due to the slick surface the tyre performs better and has a decreased wear rate. Furthermore it offer better traction.The special feature of the 2012 rear tire is its weight reduction of 140 gramms per pair. This was achived by reducing the width by 11mm to 69mm. Due to this change the tyre offers some significant advantages, such as:- reduced tyre spinning mass- reduced volume- more stabilityResulting from those features the clutch has a lot less stress under acceleration; higher rpm will be reached; better traction out of the corner is achived; steering is gained; the front tyre wears less and the tyre performs in a more constant manner throughout the race. As the volume of the tyre is decreased by 25%, it reaches its optimum temperature earlier and keeps it more consistantly. No loss of front end grip will be suffered from anymore as the race proceeds. Furthermore, it is easier to reach good performance in low temperature conditions and the tyre wear is astonishing low.!! Atention, please take the following advice !!- reduce rear camber to a maximum of 1.5° to reach maximum performance and gain tyre`lifetime- pierce a small hole in the surface of the tyre to allowe it to breathe while heating up and cooling down. This is an essential point and it is very important to not only drill holes into the rims as the inserts are glued to the rims and as a result the tyre can only breathe through wholes in its own surface. So holes in both tyre surface and the underneath of the rim please. Do not worry about any damage to the tyre due to the holes. We have designed it to cope with this.
