The GPM shocks cases and rod ends are completely made of aluminum and equipped with replaceable bushings at the upper and lower mounting points.
The external volume control is more efficient than built-in versions with membrane or foam element. Compared with the technically similar solution of a floating balance piston inside of the shock absorber body there is the advantage that no length of the shock absorber is needed for the volume compensation. Furthermore the additional housing surface of the equalizing chamber helps in cooling the oil.

The GPM shocks are filled with 1.000 viscosity silicone oil. For a firmer setting 1.500 or higher viscosity silicone oil is recommended. If a softer setup is required, 900 or lower viscosity oil should be used.

To ensure seal tightness and consistency you should only use genuine silicone shock absorber oil for refilling as well.Most every rc-car shock absorber uses silicone oil of different viscosities. The smaller the number, the lower the viscosity of the silicone oil and the softer the damping. We recommend our progressive off-road tuning shock absorber springs from the "Dirt-Spring M" series, part number y0321, for the shock absorbers. The original springs can also be used on FG models! Silicone oil recommendation: The GPM-Spezial Cross shock absorbers are filled with silicone oil viscosity 1000. This viscosity provides very good damping properties at normal outside temperatures. If softer damping is required, oil with a viscosity of 500 or 600 is recommended; for harder damping, 1500 or higher is recommended. One 50 ml bottle of y0038 is sufficient for five long or six short dampers.
