Problems with transmitter range or interference?

- back

The easiest way is to do the test with two people.

Before the test:

Make sure that you are not in the vicinity of high voltage lines, these can significantly affect the transmitter performance and/or the signal.

First test without engine running

Just turn on the electronics of the vehicle and slowly increase the distance between yourself with the remote control and the car. Move steering and throttle while you walk. The second person will check that the car is working accordingly. Should you reach a distance of about 100 meters without any interference, everything is fine and you can do the second test with the engine running. If you do notice malfunctioning and your servos donít work as they should, try the following:
  • Without the engine running check all connectors for tight and proper fit!
  • From a raised position: make sure you stand high like on two stacked crates of beer or a park bench.
  • Change your location: perhaps there is a source for interference in the surrounding area which is not directly recognized.
  • Battery change: a defective cell in the battery can be a source of interference.
If interference still occurs, it can only be caused by the transmitter or receiver. With a 2.4 GHz remote control, try re-binding the transmitter with the receiver!

With the engine running

Just turn on the electronics of the vehicle and slowly increase the distance between yourself with the remote control and the car. Move steering and throttle while you walk. The second person will check that the car is working accordingly. Should you reach a distance of about 100 meters without any interference, everything is fine. If you do notice malfunctioning and your servos donít work as they should, try the following:
  • Grinding parts: check whether due to the vibrations of the engine there is something vibrating on the vehicle which is not intended to do so.
  • Metal wiping on metal: should be avoided if possible.
  • Spark plug cap: check for tight and secure fit. If it seats normally, you can add a cable tie as an additional precaution to prevent it from coming loose. Otherwise replace if necessary.
  • Spark plug: Even when igniting properly, radio interference suppression may have decreased; it could be a source of error - try another one.
These are all just contingencies which can occur and thereís no guarantee that the fault will be found. If you struggle in vain, please contact us and we will try to solve the problem together with you.
